Day 19 Cambridge and Oxford

hello dear, how are you doing in HK? :)

I’m currently in Oxford, the 4th day of this road trip, which is also the last full day where we all 5 are together, because my bro and his gf will be heading back to London for their flight tomorrow night.

We went to Cambridge as our first stop on Tuesday. Then we visited my cousin at St Albans, before coming to Oxford. It feels like a university tour trip (haha). But in fact, I might actually like my brother’s school, Durham, the most, among the three universities we’ve been to.

Cambridge and Oxford look grand and impressive, but I can’t imagine myself studying here, haha. Between the two, I feel they both have their own charms, so I’m not sure which one I like more. But I have to say though, because my mom doesn’t want to pay entrance fee to any places, I feel it’s a bit unfair for me to judge which one has a nicer vibe.

I feel like at this point, travelling to different places in UK feels pretty “easy” for us, especially because my dad has got a disabled blue badge, we can easily find parking spots when going to different places.

As this trip almost comes to an end, I do feel a bit sad about having to face separation again. I actually don’t feel much for mom (feel sorry to say this but that’s really how I feel now), she still stresses me out and triggers me a lot these days, and I feel that I really need space from her for my better mental health. But for dad, I can really feel him aging. This trip is the first family trip that he’s using an electric wheelchair, even though he can actually still get down and walk sometimes, and he’s so “smart” to control the wheelchair, I guess it still marks as an aging milestone.

So I guess even though this trip hasn’t always been easy because of mom, I still feel it’s a right decision to come visit them because of dad.

That’s all I want to share for today. I’ll drive back up north to Manchester with parents tomorrow, before I take a train back to London for a few days before I fly back to HK. It’s a lot of travel so I hope I’ll be fine.

Good night :’)
