The AI world

hello dear, how are you?

For me, I’m adjusting gradually back to my routine work and life in HK after the short break in Taipei. Thankfully it’s a relatively quiet time at work, because quite a few people are in holiday as well including Patrick and Edison. So things aren’t going as fast as they usually are.

One thing that did bug me today was that I was having an update meeting with Jenny and Miley, and they shared a video that they created as a “fake UGC content” that is AI generated. When I looked at it, I was already expecting it to look quite “AI” (the person in the video who was “speaking”). But what concerned me was that the product in the video was very distorted and incorrect compared to the actual product. I’m not even talking about color or lighting, but that the shape of the pans and the graphics on the pans are clearly incorrect. However, they seem to think this is good enough to good because it will take them a lot of effort to finetune it.

I kinda understand the challenges with AI and they were instructed to use AI by Vincent. But I just kinda felt really surprised that Jenny or this beand team would accept this level of quality of a content. When I pointed out the major discrepancies that I think is concerning, Jenny seemed to think it is what it is.

I understand and know that AI is the trend, and I myself am benefited a lot from it at work as well. But I also just feel kinda sad when I see occasion like this where it seems to have been overly trusted. And I almost feel like I am the only one who still questions this. I guess also deep down, there’s a side of me that does feel sad every time I see some of the AI images, seeing how all the human touches and creativity are lost in it.

I’m sure you must have your experience with AI and thoughts about it too. Wonder what you think and how it’s been like for you. The world’s just changed a lot and is still changing every single day gradually, I sometimes secretly feel a bit scared about this realisation.
