The broken fridge

hello dear, how are you?
for me, it’s been a bit of a mixed for the last few days, mainly because our fridge broken down đź«
I started to noticed that on friday night when some of the frozen food started to defrost in the freezer. Them that’s when I realised the fridge seems to be no longer as cold as it should be. I tried turning the temperature setting to the lowest to see if it helps while I updated my parents. But my mom called me back and was like we should just get a new one, because our fridge is quite old (more than 10 years).
I was quite worried because I started to think perhaps the fridge has been broken for awhile, that’s why some food has already been defrost. And I worry that they will start to be rotten soon or unfeesh if we continue to leave it like that. So I immediately researched for some fridge options and made a suggestion to my parents, then ordered on that night.
Unfortunately they don’t do delivery on the weekends, so we had to wait till Monday for it to come. In the meantime, we tried to consume as much food as we could, so my brother and I still made dinners for two days. But then the next morning for two days in a row, I got a diarrhoea :((
I felt really bad because I don’t want to waste the food. Some of them are expensive stuff that my mom prepared for us before she left to the UK, like ribs, dried oysters, fa gao etc in the freezer. She also spent a lot of time to prepare those ingredients for us before putting in the freezer. But at the same time, I don’t want to risk my stomach after having diarrhoea twice.
Eventually, the new fridge finally came yesterday morning. We still had to wait for 5 hours for the new fridge to set up before we could put all the food back in. And yesterday, we picked some of the food that wasn’t defrost beforehand to consume them for dinner.
It probably doesn’t sound like a serious event, but to me this whole thing still made me feel quite tired mentally. I guess maybe because I’ve never really experienced this before, having a major appliance broken down at home. Also our parents aren’t here (and my brother isn’t that helpful as usual), so it feels extra tired that replacing a fridge feels like such an “adult” thing.
But I guess now it’s finally been solved (fingers crossed that the new one has no issue), and I’m also recovering from this and starting to embrace this as a positive thing that we get to have a new fridge to use, and fresh food as well, haha.
Sorry for this whiny post, just small (but not so small for hannah ) sharing about the everyday life.

Oh and also, while we navigate through the chaos, we also celebrated my bro’s birthday over the weekend :)
