hello dear, how are you? miss you 🤍

Today is my first full day in Amsterdam. The weather was slightly better even though it’s still cloudy and rained for a bit.

I slept in for a bit and went for brunch in a cafe that turned out to be a slightly unpleasant experience towards the end. The waiter who served me was a mid aged man, and he started chatting with me when I asked for the bill. I thought he was trying to be nice and I also didn’t want to be impolite, so I did respond to him. He first asked some casual questions like where are from, how many days will you be here etc. Then he asked if I’ll come back to this cafe, and I was being friendly so I said maybe, I don’t know haha. Then he said it’s his dayoff tomorrow and asked if I want to go for a drink.

I declined him politely by saying “no I’m good thank you” with a smile, and he walked away in slight disappointment. I left after that but I don’t know why I felt the experience triggered my anxiety slightly. This is not the first time that some random European man asked me to go for a drink when I travel solo. It’s happened when I was in Malta two years ago, then in Paris last September by a guy who worked in a vintage store, then in London few weeks back in Oxford street, then now in Amsterdam.

I don’t know what it is that makes me attracted by European guys, and I am starting to feel a bit uncomfortable travelling alone in Europe. It might just be me who can’t accommodate to this culture, but I really find it hard to not feel bad whenever I have to reject people nicely, and it stresses me out.

But thankfully I am safe. And because of the weather and the incident that makes me want to minimize my interactions with people, I decided to visit a museum about the dutch resistance duing wwii. Not sure if you remember, but I am quite into western history. The main reason I wanted to come to Amsterdam was to visit the Anne Frank House again (I came here once during my exchange semester many years ago at uni), but unfortunately I didn’t know I had to get tickets 2 months ago, so I can’t visit this time.

After that I did some quick shopping. I have been wanting to get this type of tank top. But I don’t know why whenever I try them on, I always find them to be a bit too sexy. But when I see other girls wearing them on the street, they usually look cute more than sexy. But after struggling for awhile, I still decided to get this brown tank top, I think it makes me look good :) (hopefully not too sexy 🙈) What do you think? 😊

Miss you and love you, good night 🤍
