Christmas Eve

Hello, my dearest Andy, how was your day?

It’s Christmas Eve today, I miss you extra on this day.

I went to my church’s candle light service tonight, with Vienna, a bunch of other friends who used to go to church together long time ago, my brother and his girlfriend. I have joined this candlelight service every year for several years, except what’s different this year is that the venue is the Sunbeam theatre at North Point, that Chinese opera place with a big neon light “Sun Gwong Hei Yuen”. Our church actually bought that place this year, and will be moving there in the next few years as a permanent church location. It’s such a significant milestone so they wanted to host this year’s christmas eve service there to celebrate that.

Being a Christian, Christmas to me means more than just festive atmosphere and friends/family time, but a celebration of the birth of Jesus. And for the last two years, this candlelight moment during the service has been a reminder for me to be grateful for the light that Jesus brought back into my life.

This year especially, it reminds me of this verse in the Bible that my heart really holds dear to.: “…and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
