Day 2 Work

helloooo dear Andy, I miss you a lot a lot today. 🥺
Today is the setup day of the trade show, this should be (hopefully) the busiest and most tiring day of the trip with all the heaving duty. I wore on my “british” outfit today with jeans on black boots (haha), because the venue was really dusty during the setup.

Before we started all the hard work, we had breakfast together. The guy next to me is Pup, who is the R&D guys from our Thailand factory. I asked Veron to do the gen z selfie for us. I looked very sleepy though, haha.

After that, we started the crazy work of setting up all the Disney stuff. We spent almost 7 hours putting these together.
I don’t know how you think about how they look, but for me, with all the challenges and limitations I had to overcome to make this work, I am just satisfied with how this is being properly and smoothly delivered.
I led this whole project from liaising with the UK team on the floor plan of the booth (& how much space for Disney collections), to planning and deciding on what products to be displayed at each location (including what you see on that 4 units of displays), to arranging all these samples, props, and everything to be sent to Europe, to finally setting them up here. At one point, I was even being a factory worker to assemble 30+ products with packaging in the HK office.
At my role now these days, I no longer have someone like Jenny who would review or “check” my work/stuff before it gets proceeded. I have to make a lot of decisions on my own and even advise on other’s decisions, so I am just relieved that it worked out in the end without major issues.
I wouldn’t say I am proud of myself because a lot of people supported to make it happen. In fact, when I looked at it all together when the set up was done, I really just had this urge to genuinely thank everyone who helped throughout this project, and Jojo and Veron who helped set up today. So I wrote a message in a Slack channel where Vincent is in to make sure everyone is credited. You know me well enough to understand how shy I get to do something like this. But I just feel like I should overcome the shyness to do this for the team :)

Miss you, dear Andy. I think about you a lot today because today is one of those days when I feel like I grew (at least) a bit at not just my hard skills but the soft skills for work, and I think you would be proud of me. Right? :’)
